ADOPTION FEES: Updated Pricing for 2023
Here at Px we don't breed for profits or volume, we are a small scale breeder focusing on producing the very best quality pets with excellent health & background tracking records, well known established genetic bloodlines and documented longevity. I also work exclusively with the unique MOON variety along with only a handful of sister ratteries around the country to determine it's genetics and establish it's standardization. The line that we currently work with is over 20 years in the making, every animal that I place represents years of hard work, tracking, testing and selective breeding. Our prices reflect this and the high level of care residents receive here. Adoption fees for rats under 12 weeks of age is $40 each (you must adopt at least a pair), retired or older rats are lower and multiple rat adoption discounts are given for adopting more than 2 - See the Bloodlines section for more pricing details. All adoptions come with a take home packet & transition food. There's a $20 fee per adoption for the required proper carrier if not brought to the adoption appointment. Applying To Adopt
To apply for adoption, go to the contact section and answer the questionnaire. Response times may vary and during holidays / holiday seasons it may be delayed but if you do not hear back from me in more than 48 hours, please re-email. |

Rats that are not claimed by those on the waitlist will be available on a fist come first serve to approved home. All rats are available to be reserved by any approved home until a deposit is put down. Starting in 2023, deposits are nonrefundable and nontransferable once paid.

After Adoption
Px is here for the lifetime of the rats, we provide ongoing communications and advice / recommendations support whenever needed. We test regularly each year for Rat Bite Fever and Seoul Virus (two diseases that can directly affect human health and life) as well as a full serology panel testing for general colony health & tracking, recent copies of test results are available upon request. Health or long term temperament issues are often rare in our lines and long average lifespans are well documented. To save paper, pedigrees and health reports are now available upon request. Emergency situations should be vet-advised and addressed. Starting in 2023, we have started a Vet Fund that helps cover a portion of vet costs and group serology testing for any Px rat at any point in it's life if you cannot afford the vet visit or meds when brought to our official vet - Dr. Colson at Medlock Bridge Animal Hospital.

We Appreciate You!
There are a lot of sources to get rats from these days, thank you for choosing us! By adopting from us you are supporting ethical breeding practices in our rat community and allowing us to continue to strive towards a healthier longer lived rat. Your adoption fees not only go towards basic spoiled ratten care of resident Px rats, it helps us fund urgent vet cost care support for those in need who can't pay and keeps rats in the home with their families. By choosing to take home a moon rat, you are ensuring the future of this interesting unique variety, continued research & development and it's legacy - keeping the love and memory of Jo Ann "Bella" Hodges of Bellaratta's Nest (BN) and the J-Line alive and well. |
